A BRIEF OVERVIEW
Prevention is better than cure!!!
Assessment of work stations; manual
handling education; review training techniques; recognition of
muscle imbalances; massage to reduce muscle tension; stretching
& strengthening programmes; stress management techniques.
Assessment:
Verbal and physical
examination provides a clear understanding
of the what, how and why of the condition.
If this examination does not accomplish this, you will be referred to
one of my colleagues in the field of podiatry, ultrasonography or to
an orthopaedic consultant surgeon for further investigation.
Treatment:
Treatment procedures vary depending on the
nature of the injury. It may involve some or all of the following
modalities: electrotherapy; acupuncture; massage; taping
and strapping; provision of orthopaedic devices (please have
a browse in my shop).
Rehabilitation & Reconditioning:
Following
completion of a goal-setting questionnaire, your rehabilitation
programme will be individualised to you, your injury and
your future aims. Not only this, but it will include elements
of your chosen sport to allow a smooth return to full participation.
This programme may take place in the clinic, gym, sports
field or home. Your home programme will be detailed on an "Physiotools" exercise
sheet.
The use of field rehabilitation helps to lower the injured sportsperson return-to-sport
anxiety, therefore enabling a much smoother return to full participation.
